Using a very lean ground turkey or chicken you can make chili very “clean eating’ friendly. Here’s my favorite recipe.
Ingredients
32 ounces ground beef, lean
1 large onion, diced
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
2 (15-ounce) cans tomatoes
2 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (16-ounce) can tomato paste
1 (15-ounce) can chili beans
4 tablespoons chili powder
3 tablespoons cumin
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons pepper
2 teaspoons beef bouillon powder
3 cups water or to desired thickness
Instructions
Brown the ground beef with the onions and garlic. Add chili powder and cumin to the meat while it’s browing to give it some extra added flavor.
Prepare the remaining ingredients in a large pot.
Combine all the ingredients and add water to desired thickness to the large pot and mix well.
Cook on medium to low heat for 4 hours. Make sure you stir frequently.
Yields: 8 Servings
Sounds yummy! Can you do this in a crock pot?
